Human Rights Policy
1. Overview
Sustainable Procurement Value (“SPV”) is committed to advancing human rights,
supplier diversity, and social impact through every aspect of our operations and
advisory services. This policy outlines our approach to modern slavery, diversity
and inclusion, indigenous engagement, workplace safety, fair pay, and social
procurement. This is anchored in our belief that commercial businesses have the
power to deliver transformative social value. SPV aligns with the following
standards and initiatives:
- Universal Declaration of Human Rights
- UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights
- Australian Modern Slavery Act 2018
- Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (Cth)
- Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth)
- Closing the Gap framework for Indigenous equity
- Sustainable Procurement Pledge (SPP)
- Property Council of Australia’s Guide to Social and Indigenous Procurement
2. Scope
This policy applies to all employees, including contractors.
3. Policy details
Human Rights is a broad area, that SPV aligns with in the following aspects:
a) Diversity, Equity & Inclusion
SPV fosters a culture of respect, belonging, and equity. We:
- Welcome and celebrate diversity across gender, race, age, ability, and identity
- Ensure inclusive language and representation in all communications
- Promote equitable access to opportunities, leadership, and decisionmaking
- Challenge bias and discrimination in all forms
- Align with SPP’s commitment to inclusive and cooperative procurement behaviour
b) Modern Slavery & Ethical Sourcing
SPV maintains zero tolerance for modern slavery, forced labour, and human
trafficking. We commit to:
- Conducting due diligence on suppliers and partners
- Avoiding engagement with entities that exploit vulnerable workers
- Promoting transparency in supply chains
- Supporting clients to embed anti-slavery criteria in procurement frameworks.
- Upholding the SPP pledge to act against exploitation, child labour, corruption, and injustice
c) Fair Pay & Employment Practices
SPV supports fair, transparent, and lawful remuneration. We:
- Pay all contributors in accordance with or above relevant award rates
- Avoid exploitative freelance or subcontracting arrangements
- Promote ethical employment practices in client engagements
- Advocate for living wages and equitable compensation structures
- Uphold the SPP pledge to reduce inequality and promote justice through procurement decisions
d) Work, Health & Safety
SPV prioritises the wellbeing of all team members and collaborators. We:
- Operate as a remote-first business with flexible, safe working conditions
- Maintain secure digital environments and ergonomic practices
- Encourage mental health awareness and work-life balance
- Comply with all relevant WHS legislation and standards
e) Social and Environmental Procurement & Supplier Diversity
SPV uses its procurement influence to generate positive social impact beyond the
value of goods and services directly procured. In We:
- Prioritise procurement from social enterprise, including:
- Environmentally sustainable suppliers
- Certified social enterprises
- Indigenous businesses
- Australian disability enterprises
- Majority women-owned and LGBTI+-owned businesses
- Local suppliers
- Recognise that social and / or environmental enterprises operate on a “beyond profit” basis, generating revenue through trade while delivering environmental or social benefits
- Promote supplier diversity as a strategy to redirect spend to under represente groups supporting social return
- Apply an intersectional lens, recognising that many Indigenous businesses support the Environment, are also women-owned or LGBTI+-owned, and deserve inclusive engagement
f) Engagement with Indigenous Communities
SPV acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the lands on which we operate,
including the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We commit to:
- Respecting Indigenous knowledge, culture, and sovereignty
- Collaborating with Indigenous-owned businesses and social enterprises
- Supporting reconciliation and economic inclusion through procurement
- Ensuring respectful representation in branding, storytelling, and advisory work
4. Exceptions and Compliance
All stakeholders can:
- Raise concerns or breaches through designated channels communication channels confidentially and without fear of retaliation. The designated communication channel is via contact@spvalue.com.au
5. Ownership and revision
This Policy is reviewed bi-annually and updated as needed to reflect changes in
technology, regulation, stakeholder feedback or SPV’s operations.
